Sewer Service Charges
Union Sanitary District periodically must increase its rates to continue providing safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible wastewater services to its customers. All property owners in the District’s service boundaries were mailed a Notice of Public Hearing in March 2020 regarding proposed rate increases for Fiscal Years 2021 through 2025. The public hearing regarding proposed rates was held during USD’s May 11, 2020 Board meeting. To read the May 11, 2020 Board meeting packet, please see the Board Meetings web page.
To alleviate impacts on residential customers, staff recommended the development of a residential deferral program, with collection of all residential fee increases for FY 21 (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021) deferred until FY 22.
USD’s Directors approved the proposed FY 2021 through FY 2025 rates and directed staff to bring back a resolution to formally adopt the fee deferral at the next Board meeting, which will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020. This meeting will be virtual due to county and state restrictions on public gatherings. Connection instructions will be provided on the meeting agenda, which will be published on the Board Meetings web page.

USD Rates in Perspective:
Compared to other utilities and services, USD's monthly rates are the lowest:
Sewer Rate shown is USD's FY 2020 single-family residential rate (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020.) Other monthly utility rates are based on a typical residential household and were obtained from service providers where possible. Gas and Electricity rate is based on an annual average for a 1,500 sq. ft. home in USD’s service area. Cell phone monthly bill is based on a typical calling plan for a family of four.
